22 hour day at Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon

Time, you tend to realize the value of it as days pass by at Great lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon.

We want to do everything, everyday in the least possible time. Fact is, we are wrong. Time management, a self taught subject, is something we will develop here. And that is pretty evident.

Individual assignments, group assignments and more need to managed well during your course here. Wait a minute! Did I tell you about the assignments already? No?

The weekend was close, not because we could do nothing in the holiday but do a lot. "Man of Steel" in the theaters and I vowed to see the movie when the trailer for the trailer had come out. So there wasn't a shadow of a doubt in my mind that I wouldn't be missing it even if Superman himself asked me not to.

After a standing ovation* (Notice the star sign) for my motivational "Go after your dream!" speech in the Business Communication session, Ritvik (Also an ardent Superman fan) and I forced the Delhi boys to book tickets somewhere, anywhere that one of their cars can take us.

Considering that my day started at 5 in the morning for reasons I am unable to recall (lets assume I was studying), it was incredibly difficult to go for a movie after 8PM but NO! Abhinav Mayaram had plans that could've probably changed his life (or so he claims) and we went on to book the 11:40 PM show. Yes, read that again.

So there we were, with a lot more time in our hands and what did we do? "Beer!", we said. Zaidi and Richa took us to this place called Underdog in Ambiance Mall. The place was OFF THE HOOK!! One of the best sports bars I've ever seen. Moreover, India - Pakistan match was on. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I don't even like cricket. A tonne of photographs later, we realised that that the movie was about to start and we left. Happy, high and more!!

L-R - Zaidi, Richa, Tower, Rithvik & Yogesh - PGPM 14

We barely survived the movie. We struggled to keep our eyes open. Infact, I think I dozed off a couple of times during the movie not knowing what I have missed. It was 2:30 in the morning. By the time the movie ended, I was half asleep. I did not care if Superman was going to die or not. Overall, I liked the movie. It did not live upto my expectation but there were certain scenes that blew my mind. Thanks to the awesome beer at Underdog.

We reached back at 3 AM. Yes, I crashed with my jeans on.

"First Rain" @ Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon

Yes, very sentimental. The expression of the day - Tears of joy. A part of Bangalore experienced. Actually, a part of Bangalore (when bad) discovered.

Walked out onto the verandah and experienced breeze, actual breeze. The kind that is worth mentioning. "There is a God", I said to myself.

As dramatic as the situation was, I heard a bunch of retards singing "Rain is falling, chumma chum chum" (An ancient Hindi song. If you haven't listened to it. Don't bother, you didn't miss much). What a Buzz Kill! *Slaps forehead*

Speaking of Buzz Kill, a beer in the evening would've been the perfect combination but no, we aren't in heaven. We're at Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon and they love to give us assignments. Not one, not two but six hundred and fifty four billion assignments that have final submission dates no more than a week from today. You can just imagine how this day went. Started with an assignment in Marketing and ended with a partly done assignment in Organizational Behavior.

Bliss!!..... NOT.... but I wasn't complaining. It rained for almost 12 hours. So.. "Half-Bliss"

Half days @ Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon are more expensive than normal ones.

Half days. Yes, its those days when you think you have a lot more time. It might not entirely be true because you will end up planing a day so hectic that getting up the following day would be a task. Needless to say, you would've burnt a big hole in your pocket. IT WAS ONE EXPENSIVE DAY!!

As happy as the gang and I were that we had a half day on the way to the canteen for lunch. We made lunch plans once we saw what was served. Let me not get descriptive about stuff that makes me angry *takes a deep breath*.

After a considerable amount of time spent in shortlisting a place for lunch via Zomato and it's likes, Ansal Mall, the closest mall is known for its restaurants. Zaidi, Richa, Abhinav, Ritvik and I went in to this place called "Pind Balluchi", an authentic Punjabi food chain all over Delhi and God knows where else. Ritvik and I wanted to go all desi so we started by ordering lassi* (*I don't know how to explain it. Please feel free to Google it). After we ordered the five billion Naans* and spicy chicken and mutton items, I can confidently say, "THANK GOD FOR PUNJABIS", if not, Man!! the food here is a disappointment. Ritvik and I ate like the world was going to end in a couple of hours. It was a meal I would've sinned for.

We knew we couldn't walk properly after we ate like the way we did but we missed sweet meats. So we ordered for Jamoon* and Rasmalai*. Like I said, "a mean I would've sinned for."

Later that evening, we decided to go out to someplace. On Tiwari's suggestion, we went to a place called Vapour in Gurgaon. The place suc@#d monkey b$@ls. We were the only people there along with a couple who were in a different dimension. Let me stop there.

Totally tickd off about the place, we left to the next best option. Turquoise Cottage, a place across the street from Vapour.

Ritvik, Ethisham, Yogesh, Ritika, Richa and Abhinav.

An evening spent well. Ritika getting crazy, Zaidi doesnt even have to get crazy and the rest of us were laughing for stuff I don't recall for. We laughed till we cried and we cried when we saw the bill. I guess that's how some days turn out to be. A lot of LIITs (Long Island Ice Teas - Delhi Lingo) later, we got back tottering to the hostel singing some random tracks from albums we don't own.

Yes, we were off tune. It was no time to check the raag we were singing it.

Belong @ Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon.

Today was something else. And quite honestly, I'm glad I fell ill.

The time was 5 AM, I was freezing while on my bed. I thought the AC was set at "freeze" mode so I turned it down by atleast half a dozen clicks. An hour an a half later, I'm still feeling the chills. Just when I thought that the AC wasn't functioning properly, there was a power cut. The whole grid in where I stay had no power due to something blowing up somewhere. Ground reality, at the point I was pretty glad.

Even after the power cut, I felt chill'y. Realized that it wasn't the AC that wasn't working properly, it was me. I was "running temperature" (Indian Lingo) and I didnt have a clue. Stepped out of the bed to realise that my legs were super weak to even walk properly. All thanks my mind telling me that I can go all out in the gym after a break of 4 month. Lesson learnt.

As weak as I was, I sent a message in Whatsapp to the whole batch saying that I was ill and could I borrow some medicine. Instantly, the whole place was inquiring and classmates volunteered to get the medicine if nobody had it.

Until the end of the day, my fellow classmates kept checking on me to see how I was and whether I was recovering or not.

I was taken aback. Needless to say but I felt really special. Probably because I did not expect this kind of a reception. I realized that we, "The Greats", are no longer just acquaintances like how we were 2 weeks ago. We've changed, we've evolved and we've accepted.

Thank You Titans for helping me out today.

*Raises glass* "We Belong."

Cheers!

"Accounts is like a girl in a bikini, she'll look very exciting but whats underneath is very complicated."

That is how the Finance section of the PGPM program started in @ Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon. Did I complain? Obviously not!

At the point I realized something that was clear from when the course started. All the teachers try to prove that the subject they teach is the best. Made me wonder if they had targets too. Just like insurance salesman or in the case of Bangalore, traffic policeman. Then I got bored with the question and moved on to an interesting topic. Lunch.

Jazz for term 1

Two weeks from when the course began and what I can say is "WE'VE GOT A TONNE OF THINGS TO STUDY" and to add to the flavor, we have a billion a assignments, Viva, presentations and things I've not even heard of yet. Ok! A billion might be exaggerating. Maybe a little short of ten million. No sweat! We're cool. I think. *Zonked expression on face*

Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon loves the number seven (7). We have approximately seven subjects a term. And we have seven terms which last for seven weeks each. Do the math. That's is a lot.

"The Great Life", we call it.

The question of the week @ Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon:

Dude, did you Karaoke here already?

"No, I didn't" was the answer. As shocked as the Abhinavs were over a beer near the mall. An impromptu plan cropped up. We rushed to our rooms, chucked our stuff and were out within the next 30 mins.

Sumit, Abhinav Tiwari, Abhinav, Yogesh. Some shack near the room. 30 May, 2013.

Somewhere in the middle of cyber city, a place called Route 4 exists. Thursday nights are karaoke nights. Abhinav owns a pretty awesome Honda City (Note: I said pretty awesome. Which means in not among the newer lame looking ones. This one was the best thing on the road in 1998), so we had our way around the place.

We reached the place around 9 assuming it would be empty. We were wrong. We were like bees in a beehive. Clearly, "this place is the shit!!". And to top it off, they had happy hours (1+1 on almost everything)

Our man Tiwari walked in like a boss as he is a regular there and took the mic like it was his birth right. It probably was because HE FLOORED THE PLACE with his kickass vocals.

Yogesh and Tiwari 6 pitchers later @ Route 4, Gurgaon. 30 May, 2013.

I brayed, along with 17,000 other people in the place. Abhinav, the composed one, can sing really well but NO, he disagrees and did not sing (Include foul words of your choice). We're going to make him pay for it. Ritvik, the entertainer, is fun when normal. Super fun when drunk. This guy should be in your gang. Sumit, the Sardar, kept guzzling alcohol like nobody's business. Look away and look back at him and his booze would be over. This Sardar can drink (Just like every other Sardar. Go Paaji!!). Srinivasan, our silent observer, finally opened up and joined the club of being retarded. We are now family.

A lot of Alcohol and a billion songs later, we stepped out to realise that we did not eat AT ALL. All we did was drink. Stopped near a road side parantha place in cyber city and OH MY GOD! IT WAS AWESOME! Hot paranthas, as tasty as they can get, made me feel like I lost my finger prints because of the temperature it was served in. We had them coming continuously. I think we bought the whole Gaadi.

I don't remember what time we got back but we did, safely while we were in the Delhi groove and Sang "Amplifier by Some random guy". It was hilarious.

It was one mental night. We were probably judged and termed as the worst singers in the world but "In the End, it doesn't even matter"
